Manchester’s food scene is rarely far from praise and recognition

One restaurant in the city has enjoyed a great start to 2025 after discovering its nomination for a national award. Skof has been outlined for an award at the Good Food Guide Awards 2025.

Skof is located in an old textile warehouse in Manchester city centre, around the corner from the National Football Museum. The eatery has been nominated for the Best New Restaurant Award at the Good Food Guide Awards 2025.

Owner Tom Barnes has decades of experience as a chef, and he fulfilled his dream of owning his own restaurant when Skof opened its doors in May last year. His influence on food has also been transferred to TV, as Tom enjoyed his time on BBC2’s Great British Menu, where he won the main course at the final banquet.

The restaurant's website paints a warm and welcoming picture to any customers old or new. They say: “At Skof, there are no conventions, no dress codes — just great food and great vibes, in a casual and beautifully designed space, much like the city we’ve chosen as our home.”

All winners will be announced at The Good Food Guide Awards on Monday February 3 2025.
