Knoops opens Manchester hot chocolate cafe in city centre with tailor-made drinks

A cult hot chocolate cafe is set to open in Manchester city centre later this month.

Knoops is unveiling its first north of England branch to add to its 10 stores in the south. The brand is known for its hot chocolate cafes and its range of products for people to recreate the drinks at home. Located at Cross Street, the new store will have 14 indoor seats for people to enjoy the hot and iced drinks served and will open on Friday 21 April.

Knoops was founded by Jens Knoop, who has had a strong knowledge of chocolate since his childhood in rural Germany and will be at the store opening. Jens carefully selects the chocolates used from around the world and uses makers who are committed to improving the sustainability of cocoa.

The first store was opened in Rye, East Sussex in 2013 and has gone from strength to strength, and Jans is now author of a chocolate cookbook. The British brand pride themselves in offering a menu which caters for every taste and mood by being completely customisable as part of the world of ‘Knoopology’. ‘Knoopology’ is the process of selecting a chocolate percentage that suits you by choosing four options to make a drink tailored to your preferences.

People can choose the temperature, choice of milk, preferred chocolate percentage and then flavoursome add-ons to complete. There are 20 different types of chocolate to select, and drinks chosen as 54% chocolate or higher can be made vegan.

Also, there are options to have the drink blended with ice cream for the ultimate chocolate milkshake experience. Offering a student discount, the store hopes to attract people from all demographics and enable them to have the ultimate Knoops experience.

This will be the brand's 10th store to open with other locations including in London, Brighton, Oxford and Cambridge.
