Dimitri’s: one of Manchester’s best-loved Greek restaurants shares its secrets to its longevity

We speak to the man behind the famous Greek/Mediterranean restaurant Dimitri’s Tapas Meze Bar and restaurant in Manchester city centre.

It’s a well-loved Mediterranean restaurant in Manchester that has been around for over 33 years in the City Centre, and its successful traditional menu has barely changed during that time.

Dimitri's Tapas Meze bar and restaurant in Deansgate has served customers for over three decades and has been known as one of the best-loved Mediterranean eateries in the city. The restaurant serves primarily Greek food, yet its owner Dimitri Grilioupolus says the most popular dish on the menu is hummus, which isn't originally from Greece.

Dimitri's is famous for its platters and mezes, including the Party Meze Menu for big parties and groups. The venue has expanded over time and can now cater for up to 300 diners and can be found close to Beetham Tower and just a short walk from Deansgate station.

The restaurant has welcomed a few famous faces over the years - including singer Peter Andre, who also filmed the TV series, Peter Andre's Greek Odyssey with Dimitri in 2016. We went down to ask Dimitri how the restaurant has remained so successful over its 33 years of serving loyal customers here in Manchester, for this video report.
