Travellers who are looking to hit the road without breaking the bank during the cost of living crisis are in luck as a new intercity bus route from Manchester is starting - with tickets beginning at as little as £2.

FlixBus is launching its latest British route with buses connecting Manchester to towns and cities in Yorkshire and the North East later this month. The new route to Leeds and Newcastle is opening as FlixBus marks its second anniversary of operating in the UK. The company runs a fleet of buses across Europe and says Britain is a key market for it.

The organisation has already started offering Manchester passengers low-cost travel options, including a route to Glasgow and a 14-hour overnight service to Paris.

What is the new FlixBus route and how do I get tickets?

The new FlixBus route departs from Manchester and takes passengers to Leeds, Middlesborough and Newcastle. The first bus heads out of Manchester on Thursday 27 April.

The service departs the Shudehill Interchange in the city centre at 7.20am and will take three and three quarter hours to reach its final destination, arriving in Newcastle at 11.05am. The return service leaves Newcastle at 12.45pm and takes three hours and 55 minutes to come back to Manchester, getting to the city centre at 4.40pm.
