Dogs Trust Manchester: 13 lovely dogs looking for their forever home this Christmas

Can you help one of these good boys and girls find a new forever home this Christmas?

A dog is for life, not just for Christmas – it’s a phrase that’s often repeated this time of year and with good reason.

Puppies have long been popular Christmas gifts, but it’s a trend that dog welfare charity Dogs Trust are strongly urging against, amid growing concerns about illegal smuggling.

The charity reports that over 2,000 puppies, with a total market value of £3million, have been seized at UK border control in the last seven years and rehomed as part of their Puppy Pilot scheme to crack down on the issue. There has also been a 60% increase in pregnant dogs seized since 2021.

On top of that, shelters are filling up with animals that have been surrendered or abandoned this year. More and more owners are giving up their pets, no longer able to afford them due to the cost of living crisis, meaning there are more dogs looking for forever homes than ever.

But, if you are responsible, with the time, money, patience and love to give a dog a safe home this winter, here are some of the lovely pets at Dogs Trust Manchester waiting for adoption - you can find out more on the charity’s website.
