Channel 4 The Great British Bake Off 2022: Who is Manchester contestant Maisam - full lineup and how to watch

The nation’s favourite cake-making show The Great British Bake Off is back for a new series, with Channel 4 revealing the 13 contestants hopeful of being crowned champion. One of these is Maisam, from Manchester.

By far this season’s youngest contestant at 18 years of age, Maisam will be eager to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with whatever task she’s handed regardless of her experience.

Running for 10 episodes, the show will see one person sent home and another crowned Star Baker each week until there are just three bakers left for the final.

From a nuclear scientist to a cardiovascular research associate, there’s a real range of people taking on challenges under the UK’s most famous tent on the grounds of Down Hall.

Who is Maisam from The Great British Bake Off?

Maisam is an 18-year-old student and sales assistant from Greater Manchester.

Originally from Libya, Maisam has lived in the UK since she was nine. She speaks five languages - English, Arabic, Amazigh, Spanish and Turkish - and aims to make that seven by the time she turns 20.

With a strong creative streak, Maisam spends her spare time photographing still-lifes and the world around her. She’s been baking since she was 13 and loves the challenge of getting a bake just right.

Her favourite flavours are inspired by her Mediterranean heritage – she loves the tang of olives, the sweetness of dates and the nuttiness of sesame seeds.

The first episode of Series 13 of The Great British Bake Off will be aired on Tuesday 13 September 2022 at 8pm.
