Stockport’s finest Blossoms have announced their fifth studio album is coming at the end of the summer. Titled ‘Gary’ , the album is the first time in years that the band has been able to get together in the studio to record.
Blossoms have become known for their eye-catching and genuinely fun music videos and announcements. The first single from ‘Gary’ was released with a music video that featured Everton manager Sean Dyche, and the album announcement followed a similar direction.

Titled ‘Gary’, the album launch video featured some famous Garys who made appearances throughout the clip. Gary Lineker, Gary Neville, and Gary Numan are asked about the fact the album is called Gary. This comes following the news that the name Gary may soon be extinct. Lineker can be seen at the end of the video saying that mothers and fathers across the country will now be saying they need to name their children Gary after finding out the name of Blossoms’ new album
Singer Rick Astley, who is a long-time friend of the band, also makes an appearance in the video. This, however, is for a very different nod given by Blossoms to a news story that gripped the nation last year.
Who is Gary the Gorilla?
Blossoms have announced the release of the title track to ‘Gary’, which is linked back to a real life news story. In 2023, an eight foot fibreglass gorilla was stolen from a garden centre in Lanarkshire, Scotland. The song is an appeal for Gary to come home, something that happened a year later when he was discovered in a lay-by.
The owner of the garden centre, Andrew Scott, gave an appeal to the criminals who took Gary in an appeal to have him returned. In the video, Scott is played by Rick Astley- a move that adds to the humorous tone we’ve come to love Blossoms announcements for.

The title track of ‘Gary’ is out now, and this follows the release of the album’s first single ‘What Can I Say After I'm Sorry?’ The full album is set to be released on Friday September 20.
