Manchester really is a home for great British TV.
The city has provided the focal point for some of the most popular shows on our screens down the years - with Corrie obviously leading the way.
In no particular order, we've rounded up some of the best to be based in our fine city. We've tried to pick ones where Manchester isn't just a filming location, but a key part of the show.
1. Coronation Street
We had to start here right? On the Weatherfield cobbles. It’s been on air since 1960 has become one of the most iconic shows in British TV history.
2. The Royle Family
Another British classic. One Manchester, more specifically Wythenshawe, family who loved the TV, with shows shot almost in real time. A stunning cast came together on those sofas and around the dining table - Ricky Tomlinson, Sue Johnston, Caroline Aherne, Craig Cash and a young Ralf Little.
3. Cold Feet
The trials and tribulations of three couples in another Manc-tastic telly offering. So popular with a certain generation that after ending after six years in 2003 it returned to our screens in 2016, going on hiatus again in 2020.
4. Shameless
Frank Gallagher and all the goings on around the fictional Chatsworth council estate. It had a nine-year run with 139 episodes in all. Award-winning, it was widely praised by critics for its depiction of working-class life in the city. As well as David Threlfall the cast also included now Hollywood star James McAvoy and ex-wife Anne-Marie Duff among others.
