Rumours of an Oasis reunion are bubbling once again, but this time they seem closer than ever to coming true.

On Sunday 25 August, a cryptic post appeared on the social media accounts of both Liam and Noel Gallagher, as well as the official Oasis accounts. The short video clip shows the the date 27.09.24 in the style of the band’s logo, followed by the time 8am.

As usual, Liam has taken to social media platform X to tease fans and respond to comments on the highly-anticipated announcement. He posted: “I never did like that word FORMER.”

Some of the rumours circulating online suggest that a series of homecoming gigs at Heaton Park are on the cards, as well as a 10-night run at Wembley Arena, which would beat Taylor Swift’s record eight-show stint for her Eras tour.

Whether this makes you roll your eyes or reach for your bucket hat and parka, there’s no denying that Oasis are among Manchester’s greatest cultural exports. They pioneered the Britpop movement in the nineties, solidifying the city’s legend status where music is concerned.

The band, which has at various points in its history included members Gem Archer, Chris Sharrock and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, has not performed together since 2009, when the brothers fell out before they were due to perform at a Paris music festival.
