Manchester and the North West’s best to worst universities have been published in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide for 2023, which reveals the 11 universities in the city and the region and their ranking.
The league table encompasses data including graduate prospects, degree results, research quality, and student satisfaction and experience.

Here’s how Manchester's and the other universities around the North West ranked in the academic league table:
1. University of Manchester - National rank 24
The University of Manchester also dropped by one place to 24 from 2022 to 2023, securing a total score of 714.
2. University of Liverpool - National rank 33
The University of Liverpool fell three places in the latest rankings from position 30 in 2022 to position 33 in 2023. Total score 665.
3. Manchester Metropolitan University - National rank 60
Manchester Metropolitan University saw a significant rise in rank moving from 71 in 2022 to 60 in 2023 with a total score of 579.
4. Edge Hill University - National rank 78
The Ormskirk-based university dropped from place 58 in 2022 to 78 in 2023. Edge Hill's total score is 528. Photo: submit
