Wythenshawe Explorers fundraising their way to Prague

Just seven months after the launch of their second unit, 14 of 1st Wythenshawe’s adventure seeking Explorer Scouts (aged 14-18) and 4 adult volunteer leaders are heading off on an unforgettable trip to Prague this summer!
From board game marathons to bag packing, the Explorers and their dedicated team of adult volunteers have already raised an incredible £7,100 towards their adventure! And with their next fundraising event, a hotpot and quiz night, in the calendar for April 25, they’re well on their way to reaching their 10k total.

Hide AdA leader at 1st Wythenshawe Explorers said: “It has been lovely to see the Explorers work together to achieve their goal of going to Prague. Seeing them develop skills and make strong friendships has been great to see and being part of this international trip makes the whole journey feel so special. I’m very proud of how far they have all come.”


Being an Explorer Scout at 1st Wythenshawe is all about having new experiences and doing things you never thought possible, all whilst making friends and memories that will last a lifetime along the way. And what could be a better that travelling to a brand new country!
One of the explorers heading on the trip said: “I’m looking forward to going to Prague as its 1st Wythenshawe’s first international trip! I’ll be able to experience a different culture and a country I have never been too before.”
Another Explorer added: “Travelling to Prague will expose us to different traditions and ways of life, helping us to become more openminded and understanding of global diversity. It can also foster independence, self-reliance and problem-solving skills as we navigate unfamiliar environments. Sharing this adventure and challenges can also strengthen friendships and create lasting memories”.
