Each year, over 10,000 children are treated by experts in the children’s unit at the hospital. The project, handled by NorthCare Charity, the official charity of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA), aims to improve the environment of the unit while also providing specialist equipment and facility upgrades. These will benefit the children and young people staying at the hospital who have complex and mental health needs and learning difficulties.
Taylor Wimpey’s donation is part of its ongoing commitment to giving back to the community surrounding its Harts Mead development in Ashton-Under-Lyne. The outdoor projector brings dynamic and colourful visual effects to the outdoor space in darkness.

Hide AdRicky Barber, Childrens Unit Manager at The Royal Oldham Hospital, said: “Many of the children staying here are accommodated in individual rooms for isolation purposes, facing out onto the courtyard at night. Being able to see the beautiful displays produced by the projector, so generously funded by Taylor Wimpey, brings delight to their little faces. We are very grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s support in making every child’s hospital stay the best it can be.”

Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: “We are proud to be able to support the sensory equipment and facility improvements being introduced to the children’s unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital. This project is going to improve the stay of the thousands of children being treated there and also help to put a smile on their faces during a difficult time.”
NorthCare Charity supports the NCA by working with businesses, communities and schools to help fund equipment, education, research and wellbeing activities. The NCA was created in 2017 and is one of the largest NHS organisations and currently covers four hospitals: Salford Royal, The Royal Oldham Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, and Rochdale Infirmary.
