MP Navendu Mishra meets ear and eyecare experts supporting the NHS

STOCKPORT MP Navendu Mishra visited Specsavers to see how expert opticians and audiologists are making a difference to patients, the community and supporting the NHS – and are ready to do more.

Mr Mishra, who has been the Labour MP for Stockport since 2019, spoke to the team at Specsavers, located in Merseyway Shopping Centre, about how they are delivering primary care services and providing vital access to eye and ear care.

As a locally owned and run business, Mr Mishra was given a tour of the store by directors Deborah Morley, Frances Prescott, and Sophie Jordan, who showcased the variety of NHS services available to patients, including sight tests, community urgent eye care, and audiology.

The Specsavers team also shared their thoughts on what more could be done by the government and by local NHS commissioners to enable community providers like Specsavers to deliver a wide range of NHS services, reduce barriers for NHS patients and improve access to care.

Deborah Morley, who is a director of the store, says, ‘It was great to welcome Mr Mishra to our store. We spoke about Specsavers’ mission to change lives through better sight and hearing, and our ambition to further improve access to care for all.’

Audiologist Sophie Jordan, also a director of the store, took the opportunity to talk to Mr Mishra about the NHS and private hearing care services provided in store.
