“This incredible gift from Mercedes-Benz is a game-changer for us and our charity partners. Having access to these electric vans allows us to extend our reach, making sure essential supplies get to the people who need them most, all while reducing our environmental impact. We are truly grateful for this support, which will help us continue making a difference in our community.”
Clare Cooke, Director of Business Development at Wigan & Leigh Hospice, also highlighted the impact of the donation: “We are so grateful to both Mercedes and The Brick for donating the vans to us, which will make a big difference to Wigan & Leigh Hospice, not only saving the cost of purchasing vehicles but also saving on fuel costs. At a time when hospice finances are more stretched than ever before, this means we can focus our funds on what’s most important – delivering outstanding palliative and end-of-life care to the people of Wigan and Leigh.”
Lynne Hamnett,Lead Officer at Embrace Wigan and Leigh said: “I can't express how much the four vans, have meant to Embrace. Straight away we have already been able to collect item's and deliver items from Embrace's Charity Shop that only opened in November.
“Going forward Embraces aim is to maximise many young disabled adults that have spent their entire lives in special school provision. To think differently and look at their own gifts and talents and ambition's. To think outside the box of CIC’S and look at what different opportunities are available to them.
“We have so many ideas for the vans and a massive thanks again, it has opened up so many opportunities.”
The Brick’s Multibank initiative aims to redistribute surplus stock from retailers and local businesses to families and individuals experiencing financial hardship. By equipping charities with electric vans, Mercedes-Benz is helping to ensure that support reaches those who need it most efficiently and sustainably.
