Leigh care home wins at Wigan Borough Palliative and End of Life Care Awards

Two managers at HC-One’s Richmond House Care Home in Leigh, Lancashire, were crowned winners at the Wigan Borough Palliative and End of Life Care Awards. Lorraine Scholey, Home Manager, won a ‘Special Recognition’ award and Dean Bent, Deputy Home Manager, won the ‘Deputy Manager of the Year’ award.

The awards ceremony took place on Friday 11th October at Leigh Sports Village. The fantastic event showcased and celebrated all of the amazing healthcare professionals in the Wigan borough, who go above and beyond to make a difference to the people they care for at the end of life.

In total Richmond House were shortlisted for five awards this year, and were over the moon with the nominations:

Commenting on her win, Richmond House Care Home’s Manager Lorraine Scholey said:

"I was so pleased to win this award, I have dedicated the last 30 years of my career to Richmond House so to receive recognition for this was just so overwhelming."

Dean Bent, Deputy Home Manager at Richmond House, stated:

"I was thrilled to win this award for a second time, the evening was a great success celebrating everyone’s hard work and dedication across the Wigan borough."
