Invicta Explorers Celebrate First Anniversary

Invicta Explorers is home to 11 young people, with space for more. If you, or someone you know is aged between 14 and 17 and have a sense of adventure – there is a place for you within the Unit.

Across the past 15 month, the Explorers have helped curate a programme that gives them exciting opportunities to try new things and learn skills for life. The Explorers have been pioneering, climbing, learnt first aid and volunteered with the Scout group in the younger sections for Scouts between the ages of 4 to 10.

Claire Scrafton, Explorer Team Leader said of the new Unit, “The Explorers have had so many opportunities across the last year. Through the exciting programme of fun activities, the Explorers have been working hard towards their top Scouting awards and the externally recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award. Invicta Explorers proudly wear their hoodies, neckers and t-shirts, which were funded through a Uniformed Youth Fund Grant and designed by the Explorers themselves. The grant also enabled us to purchase valuable resources for our expeditions such as tents, maps and cookers.”

Invicta Explorers have been paintballing, scuba diving and even tried gliding. The Explorers are keen to learn about the world around them and have had opportunities to learn more about different religions including visiting a Jewish Shule Synagogue and welcoming a visitor from the Church of England.

2025 promises to be just as exciting for Invicta, with expeditions planned, a District Camp and the Unit’s first international camp, visiting Kandersteg…and much more.
