David Wilson Homes has donated £3,000 to The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) in Altrincham, as well as contributing to the charity’s Easter Egg appeal.

Since being founded in 1985, CAFT made it their mission to offer a special place where terminally ill, disabled and socially disadvantaged children could participate in activities and social events they normally would not be able to take part in.

With Easter fast approaching, David Wilson Homes also made a contribution of £200 towards the charity’s Easter Egg appeal. The eggs purchased through the appeal will be distributed to children that attend its Easter day visits, which will be taking place from 5th to 21st April.

“The £3,000 donation is a huge amount of money for a charity of our size. It will provide both residential and day visits to our amazing 10-acre countryside location for children from our region whose lives are impacted by illness, disability and social disadvantage. We really can't thank everyone at David Wilson Homes enough for this support, as it will have a massive impact on the lives of these children.

“With regard to Easter, we will have in the region of 2,800 children visiting us. During this time, they'll enjoy all the fun of our 10 acres of land, including meeting the animals, playing on the playground and sports field, creating themed masterpieces to take home in our craft area and enjoying Easter-themed games and activities in the woodland.

“Each child will be given an Easter egg to take home, so we need to collect lots of chocolate! The donation from David Wilson Homes will make a huge difference and will allow us to buy Easter Eggs for many of these children.”

Booth Bank Farm, a 17th century farmhouse set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, was purchased in 1989 and has been the charity’s home ever since the official opening in 1992. Just eight years later, former professional footballer Sir Bobby Charlton would become the President of the organisation.

Included in the farm’s usual list of activities throughout the rest of the year is spending time with the farm’s animals, which features alpacas, sheep, donkeys, and ducks. Visitors will also learn about nature and wildlife at its forest school, sports and imaginative play in the green spaces and sports hall, and sensory play in the dedicated sensory suite.

David Wilson Homes’ donation was made as part of its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Redrow. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “The wonderful work of The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust is a valuable service for children throughout Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
