A much-loved Manchester student bar is set to reopen next month with a new name and £1million makeover – that includes a slide.

Footage - which closed back in May - will now be called The Grosvenor, in a nod to the Grade II listed building’s original name. The new-look pub promises to be “ultimate adult escapism experience”. Some of the new features include pool tables, beer pong tables, a photobooth, huge sports screens, “outrageous” interiors and a slide from the balcony to the ground floor.

The transformation of the 800-capacity venue is being led by a local independent operator, which acquired the pub for just £1. Chris Tulloch, managing director of the operator, said: "The Grosvenor is in the midst of an incredible transformation, and we're creating something truly special for Manchester. Our vision is to blend the best aspects of a sports bar, social venue, and nightclub into one vibrant, unforgettable space where memories are made.

“As we breathe new life into this iconic building, we’re excited to continue its legacy as a cornerstone of Manchester’s entertainment, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone in to eat, drink and have fun in the adult playground.”

The Grosvenor will be open from 12pm-12am weekdays and 12pm-2am on Friday and Saturday. It will continue to screen major sporting events and will also host live music DJs and interactive quiz nights.

On the drinks front, it will have over 30 beer taps, including craft beers, as well as canned beers, premium spirits, cocktails and alcohol-free options. The food offering includes the usual fast food favourites, such as stacked burgers, loaded pizzas, buckets of wings and sharers.

The new “adult playground” will also continue to serve the student community, with student deals soon to be announced. In the run up to the event, there are some exclusive discounts on offer if you sign up on The Grosvenor website.
