Footballer Gary Neville’s restaurant Stock Market Grill has closed its doors today just four months after launching.

Last October Gary Neville announced the upmarket ‘British Brasserie’ would replace the Bull & Bear restaurant, which was ran by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, at The Stock Exchange Hotel.

Kerridge said he and Neville were ‘parting ways’ on the Manchester city centre venture in early November.

The new restaurant has been run by esteemed brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield, the team behind Schofield’s, Atomeca and Sterling, and business partner James Brandwood, who all have over 20 years experience globally, alongside head chef Joshua-Reed Cooper. The chef has previously worked at reknowned restaurants Where The Light Gets In, The French and Michelin-starred restaurant Mana.

Described as a ‘British Brasserie, with touches of elegance from continental Europe’, the Stock Market Grill opened to much excitement in February, with an anticipated launch menu which included delicious sounding dishes such as: Tartare of Rib-Eye with Caper Jam and Smoked Dripping; Steamed Cod with Caramelised Mash and Tartare Sauce; Whipped Black Pudding With Yolk on Toast; and a Sticky Toffee Tart with Honey Custard.

The restaurant will, however, continue to serve breakfast and in-room dining to all overnight guests.

In the meantime, the focus will be on STERLING, the premium cocktail bar located in The Vault at the Stock Exchange Hotel. The team are continuing to develop the STERLING concept and it’s offering.

At the time of the opening Gary Neville said: “I am incredibly excited to be working with Joe, Daniel and James again on the launch of The Stock Market Grill. I know they will bring another world class-brand to the Stock Exchange Hotel and to our city.”

The Bull and Bear, situated within the former stock exchange building, co-owned by former Manchester United footballers Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs’ GG Hospitality and hotelier Winston Zahr, was opened back in 2019 by Michelin-Star awarded chef Tom Kerridge.

The Bull & Bear restaurant gave service for the last time on December 31. The Stock Market Grill opened at the end of February 2023 and closed its doors today. (July 3)
