Eric Bailly has reportedly reached an ‘agreement in principle’ over personal terms with Turkish club Besiktas as he prepares to leave Manchester United.

The 29-year-old defender joined United in the summer of 2016 for a reported £30million but spent last season on loan in France with Ligue 1 side Marseille.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports the player has agreed personal terms with Besiktas with talks now set to be held between the clubs over a move.

Bailly’s contract at Old Trafford is set to expire next summer but it does contain the option of a further year, after he penned an extension during Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s time in charge at the club.

According to reports in Turkey from Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Bailly has agreed terms on a three-year deal and that the Ivory Coast international is willing to terminate his contract to secure a move away from Old Trafford.

Reports claimed Marseille had an obligation to buy Bailly if he made a certain number of appearances for the club but the clause was not triggered after he played 23 times for the French outfit last term.

Bailly has not been included in manager Erik ten Hag’s plans for the upcoming season as the Ajax boss prepares for his second campaign in charge at Old Trafford. The defender has made 113 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire is expected to be available for selection for United’s opening game of the season against Wolves on Monday. United have accepted a £30million offer from West Ham for the defender but it is unclear if he wishes to move to last season’s Europa League Conference winners.

The England international was removed as United captain by Ten Hag last month and is down the pecking order at centre-back.
