Celebrity Masterchef’s Manc Terry Christian accused of cheating by viewers

Well known Mancunian Terry Christian has left some fans of Celebrity Masterchef with a bad taste in their mouth after they accused him of cheating on the show.

Former The Word presenter Terry, 63, appeared on the BBC show last night (Wednesday August 10) alongside TV star Dave Benson Phillips, former The Wanted star Max George and comedian Shazia Mirza.

Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace called Terry’s meal ‘ambitious’, but viewers took to social media to complain he had ready-made ice cream.

Ironically, Gregg said: ‘He’s being really ambitious with his dessert, he’s going to give us a mango and passion fruit ice cream. He followed it up with: ‘He’s already got ready made ice cream and he’s going to whip cream through that and fruit.’

As he tasted the dessert, John said: ‘It tastes great, the passion fruit is really sharp. The mango is very very sweet, almost honey sweetness, and rich vanilla ice cream underneath. Wonderful.

‘I’m really impressed you made choux pastry. They’re not cooked enough because you ran out of time, but I like your ambition. You do crowd-pleasing food Terry.’

Terry also made a very well received chicken curry which was described as ‘falling off the bone’.

But viewers were left cold by the ice cream debacle, with many seeming to think it was cheating.

One viewer said: ‘Ready made ice cream? Well that’s just cheating Terry Christian’.

While someone else quipped: ‘Ready made ice cream is not cooking’.

A third added ‘READY MADE ICE CREAM! This is a joke!’.

Even so, Terry scooped himself a place in next week’s round while Dave got the boot.
