Manchester Marathon: Sign-up dates for 2025 event - when it is and how to register

The Manchester Marathon will be upon us again, with thousands of runners taking part. With tens and thousands more set to line the streets, it will be a day to remember. 

There are no runner spots left for the 2024 event, but race organisers have announced when you can get signed up for next year. Some of these spots will be available within hours of the event on Sunday. 

The sign up for 2025 will be spread through different windows in April. The first of these will open at 7pm on Sunday April 14, otherwise known as race day. To get registered, visit the Manchester Marathon website.

When is the Manchester Marathon 2025? 

The date for the 2025 event has been confirmed, and it is one that may cause some conflict with marathon runners. For the first time in recent history, the Manchester Marathon will take place on the same day as the London Marathon. This date will be Sunday April 27. 

Manchester Marathon organisers confirmed why the date had to be the same as the London Marathon, saying: “A lot of consideration goes into selecting the date of each edition. Choosing the best option for 2025 was a little more complicated than usual. One of the main factors is Easter, which moves back three weeks in 2025 to Sunday 20 April (from 31 March in 2024). 

“Easter and the surrounding holiday period complicate things for both organisers and participants, so wherever reasonable we try to avoid this. Other considerations include (but are not limited to) football and cricket fixtures, daylight hours available, other large events in the region, transport availability, etc. So, in short, Sunday 27 April is the best date for us to give you a fantastic marathon experience. It’s reassuring but not surprising that London came to the same conclusion.”

It represents an incredible day for marathon participation in the UK, with the London Marathon due to take place on the same day.
