Police are appealing for information following a serious assault outside of a nightclub. Officers from Greater Manchester Police attended an incident in Waterloo Street in Oldham town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning. A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with head injuries which left him unconscious. He was in a stable condition in hospital.

Next and eco heat pumps, solar panels and LED lights will be installed on buildings as part of a £6m investment to cut carbon emissions. Manchester city council has secured grants to fund the work which will be carried out on council buildings and others like the national football museum.

And finally, Manchester waved goodbye to one of its city centre venues over the weekend. South, based in South King Street, called last orders for the final time, bringing 27 years of music to close. The venue’s lease came to an end during the pandemic and the building is set to be redeveloped.
