Road closures: more than a dozen for Trafford drivers this week

Drivers in and around Trafford will have 13 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 9pm November 1 2020 to 6am May 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 East and westbound, junction 5 - eight Lane one closed due to SMART improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am November 2 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 8pm April 25 to 6am April 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J6 to J9 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• A5103, from 9pm April 25 to 7am May 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M60, from 8.30pm April 26 to 5am April 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 6 to junction 6 - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• A556, from 9pm April 28 to 6am May 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 - five carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 9pm April 30 to 6am May 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 - eight carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M56, from 8pm May 5 to 6am November 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J4 to J9 - Lane closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• M56, from 8pm May 7 to 6am May 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• M6, from 8pm May 7 to 6am May 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 westbound, junction 12 - 10 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• A556, from 9pm May 8 to 7am May 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 - five carriageway closure due to improvement works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
