Stockport County vs Carlisle United injury news with two ruled out and two doubtful

Stockport County take on Carlisle United on Sunday in the League Two play-off final. The Hatters make the trip down to Wembley after beating North West rivals Salford City over two legs.

Stockport are without striker Kyle Wootton, who has a knee injury, and he won’t be available until next season. He has scored 14 goals this season and is the Hatters’ top scorer, with Paddy Madden, Isaac Olaofe and Jack Stretton ready to step up in his place.

Midfield pair Will Collar and Antoni Sarcevic are back fit and returned off the bench against Salford last time out which is good timing. Right wing-back Macauley Southam-Hales is back in full training but may not be risked, with Kyle Knoyle the starter in his position at the moment.

County boss Dave Challinor is looking forward to the match and has said: “The start of this season was tough but we have got over that and we have built.

“Now it’s come up to this point where we have to back ourselves and we all hoped of having the shot of getting into League One because that was our ambition at the start of the season.

“It was a big ambition some would say, now we have the opportunity to take it. Promotion was always the plan, the hope, the ambition and that’s the big thing.”

As for Carlisle, loan defender Ben Barclay can’t play against his parent club Stockport. Morgan Feeney could replace him in the side and their manager Paul Simpson will need to make a decision after seeing him return to training.

Midfielder Jon Mellish is back after serving his suspension. Meanwhile, striker Kristian Dennis is also available and could face his former club.
