Erik ten Hag has admitted Donny van de Beek’s injury ‘doesn’t look good’ as the Manchester United midfielder hobbled out of the club’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
The 25-year-old was on the receiving end of an awkward challenge from Marcos Senesi in the latter stages of the first half, with the Argentine appearing to slip on the wet surface as he stretched for the ball. Van de Beek was evidently distressed following the incident and, despite managing to walk off, went straight down the tunnel.

Hide AdSpeaking after the match, Ten Hag revealed the prognosis doesn’t look positive. “It’s difficult to say just after the game,” he explained. “We have to wait 24 hours before we can give a full diagnosis. Minimum 36 hours I’d say.
“Yes it is a [concern],” Ten Hag added. “I can’t say in this moment. We have to wait 24 hours, but it doesn’t look good.”
Van de Beek wasn’t the only United player forced off through injury against Bournemouth, with Anthony Martial also replaced in the 68th minute. Asked in hi post-match press conference if the forward was ok, Ten Hag responded: “Yes, I think so, but we have seen he got a knock. But he continues the game and he came off.”
Martial received on-field treatment during the second period and didn’t get on the ball often before being replaced by Anthony Elanga. Like Van de Beek, United’s no.9 walked immediately to the tunnel, presumably for treatment.

The 3-0 win against Gary O’Neil’s side on Tuesday moved the Red Devils level on points with third-place Newcastle United, with Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford getting on the scoresheet. The victory was United’s fourth in a row in the Premier League and the fourth consecutive match in all competitions where the Red Devils have kept a clean sheet, with David de Gea producing several good saves in the second half.
